Learn more about the Lincoln County Fire District 1 Emergency Response Center Project
Help build a new Emergency Response Center to save your loved ones that travel on Interstate 90 or live in the vicinity of Sprague in the event of an accident or a medical emergency. Lincoln County Fire District 1 has secured a one million dollar grant from FEMA to build a multi use Emergency Response Center in Sprague, Washington. We must raise $333,000 in matching funds – otherwise, we will lose the million-dollar grant. We are asking you to partner with us and bring this new Emergency Response Center to the area.
Lincoln County Fire District 1 is an all-volunteer fire district providing first response and ambulance service to all fires, accidents or medical emergencies that happen in the area of the City of Sprague, including service for Interstate 90. Additionally, the ambulance provides service to a greater area which affects parts of three counties. If the first responders were not there, people would have to wait for an emergency response from Spokane or Ritzville, which could take as much as an additional 20 to 25 minutes to arrive.
The Emergency Response Center will act as an emergency services operational base station with the following:
- Construction of this facility includes 3 multiple bed bedrooms to be occupied by resident firefighters. In return, these residents agree to be available during scheduled duty hours each month and respond to emergencies when they are in the district.
- It will include a law enforcement room creating a stronger partnership between law enforcement, emergency services and fire protection. Without this facility law enforcement have no facility to base themselves in the area or conduct interviews with victims and suspects. This facility will increase the effectiveness of law enforcement by virtue of their presence in the community to deter potential crimes.
- Other agencies that have expressed their support and interest in using this facility include Washington State Department of Transportation, Washington State Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Department of Interior Bureau of Land Management. All of these agencies have stated that they will utilize this station in some manner.
- The center will enhance the ability to help others outside the Lincoln County District with emergency services.
- It will contain a safe room for abused women or children that need safe refuge from a dangerous situation.
- Prepare the area to serve future growth of businesses and employees.
